Townsville By Air

Zac {Master 6} was lucky enough recently to go for a ride in a helicopter over The Strand and Townsville City while the V8’s were on.  My brother, who organised it obviously won the Uncle of the Year Trophy.  Big thanks to Townsville Helicopters, Zac had the rise of his life!

Getting a “Birdseye view” of anywhere is pretty spectacular. My brother took lots of photos for me to share.  At least once in your life treat yourself and do this, memories are lovely treasures!

Strand Ephemera 2015

While we are hanging in Townsville we are trying to get out and about as much as we can! Over the weekend the Strand Ephemera was launched, so we went and checked it out.  What is it you ask? It’s a Sculpture Festival that transforms The Strand into an artist display, and it’s awesome! Check out some of our pics! If you are in the area check it out, you have until 9th August {2015}.

Perth, WA

We had to come across to WA for a wedding and boy have we been knocked for six!  It’s just fabulous! We have been cramming SO much in so we can see as much as possible! Perth and Fremantle are just divine and I encroached everyone to come and visit!

This morning we picked up a Cheapa Campa Motorhome, then headed to Rottnest Island for the afternoon and now we are going to continue our exploring south and surrounds over the next few days!

Please check our Facebook/TheBlondeNomad and Instagram/the_blondenomad for regular updates on our week with our Motorhome 🙂

Reminiscing

Well at the moment we are in the planning stages to head off again! Going through photos and I’m getting mega excited! We think we have found the perfect caravan to buy (so watch this space) and we are getting used to have another little nomad in our group (Baby Brett)!

Distance Education seems to be the way to go for us & for Zac, am looking at watching how we go when we are in our van again! Making use of having family and friends around has been great too! We have also had a few opportunities to house sit, so GO US!

Looking back through our photos – we certainly have seen some beautiful places, and looking at other travel blogs we certainly have a lot more to see! I will keep reminiscing, and keep doing small trips around Townsville – while we plan to depart again!

Stay cool people x

Big Crystal Creek, QLD

We are in Townsville for a few months (getting things sorted) so we are trying our best to explore the region!

Fell in love with Big Crystal Creek in the Paluma Range National Park. It’s just magical there. It has a campground too for those wanting to camp!

I think we will love exploring more of our backyard while we call Townsville home for a few months!

The Blonde Baby Nomad is HERE :)

Our second little cherub “Brett Corey Stephenson” arrived safely into the world on Tuesday, 6th January 2015!  Zac is thrilled to be a big brother and we are all over the moon with our little addition.

Thank goodness for family and friends, they have been a constant support network while we have made the transition from ‘3’ to ‘4’.

Brett is the most amazing little baby, he is very happy and loves being in the car.  His Dr has told me he is thriving, so I’m guessing Mummy and Daddy figured out the baby thing again quite quickly (it really is just like riding a bike).

I just had to share these gorgeous pictures with you, our amazing photographer is so talented and takes the loveliest photos – check her work out {http://www.vickimillerphotography.com}.

Foodies – HELP Please :-)

Hey there readers.  I have a little project that I am working on and I need YOUR help!  While travelling in a caravan, we are limited to how much stuff we can carry, so we look for easy meals we can whip up, that are nutritious, filling & are on the less expensive side.  I have put a call out on Facebook and ask people to send in recipes – this way I can collate them all and have a little guide on my BLOG to help people when they are stuck for ideas.

So – given that the word FOODIE may have attracted you, please feel free to share any recipes of little meals (breakfast/lunch/dinner/snacks) that you might have, they can be as fancy or as simple as you like.  You can post them in the comments of this post or email me – theblondenomad13@gmail.com 🙂  I will make sure I credit your name/Blog whatever you ask, and if you could add a photo that would be great too!

The internet is a great source for people to share information, this is why I love Facebook, Instagram & Blogging, so I thank you in advance!

My Baby Bump {and those comments that make you cringe}

As you may or may not be aware, we are expecting a little addition to our family in January 2015.  On the road, I have been quite well, I mean I do get uncomfortable, get a sore back, have some digestion issues, can be emotional, but overall I am feeling really good.  This lifestyle is allowing me to rest when I need to. I lay down and stretch when I need to, I go for daily walks and I have a lot more time to plan meals, so I am eating healthy as well (well except for over indulging in my #1 craving of chocolate).

What does upset me from time to time though are the comments about how ‘huge’ I am.  On the most part, people are quite positive and whether they are saying the truth or not, they pump you up by saying you look lovely.  Everyone who ever has been pregnant, would have to agree there are times where you just feel like a loaf.  My breaths are shortened, I can run out of steam a lot quicker, and I avoid jumping pillows.  When you are feeling a little down, it seems to be the right moment for people to say things like “wow – you are going to pop soon hey?” – “OMG I had twins and wasn’t as big as you” – “Are you sure there is only one baby in there”.  I’m sure that people don’t say these things maliciously, it is just hard that when you are experiencing one of the most beautiful things that can happen, these comments can play over and over in your head and kind of get to you.

SO – I have decided that I am not going to be upset, I have embraced my pregnancy and the way in which my body has changed.  I don’t care if I have put on weight, or look like a baby albino whale, I am loving being pregnant.  I am going to share with you MY BUMP!  This is not a cry out for compliments, I am simply super proud of what my body is going through and I don’t feel the need to hide it.  My little five year old thinks I’m just beautiful and he loves touching and rubbing my belly.

Not long ago, we caught up with friends, and a few of us girls were discussing just how amazing us women are, our bodies are capable of growing another human being and can go through labour.  It is a pretty amazing thing to do, so I am now focussing more on the ‘I am healthy and super lucky to be carrying a baby’ and letting those comments go by the waist side (sorry for the pun).

So here it is –  my body transforming as I carry a little human inside.  I am going to make a promise to myself that I will not start my answer with “I know I’m huge – but I’m ….. weeks pregnant” – I will now say “I am the proud carrier of a ….. week baby & I feel super lucky”!  Today marks my 28th week of pregnancy so Congrats to me 🙂

Pretty Beach – Murramarang National Park, NSW

Have you ever been to a spot, that you just fell in love with and could picture yourself staying there for longer.  Well that’s how I feel about our recent stay at Pretty Beach.  We have been to lots of different places lately, but this is clearly a stand out.  The wildlife is just amazing, and super friendly, and we went at an opportune time, there was only a few other campers which enabled us to have time at the beach, all to ourselves.

Over the couple of days we stayed here, there were lots of Kangaroos.  A Mummy had her Joey, protecting it the whole time in her pouch while we were there.  I nearly fell over when she obviously felt safe enough around us that the Joey popped out for a few seconds and we got a sneak peak.  I was so thankful to have my camera out, it was truly amazing to see.  No matter what anybody else says, I think that she saw my baby bump and just felt proud enough to show me her baby.

What have you seen or experienced that you just felt so lucky to be at the right time or the right place? Have you got a favourite place to travel to?  There is so much to see that I hope we can continue our journey once we welcome our baby into the world so we continue of our journey of experiencing unique things such as this.

Travel safe everyone x
